9 ways to have Snow White energy

Maybe it’s the fact that she has dark hair and fair skin and a bunch of people surrounding her making a constant mess which so reflects my own life that has me a little biased, but the 1937 original Snow White is the ultimate Disney princess goals when it comes to femininity. From the way she speaks, to how she moves, to what she values and how she loves others, she is the ultimate princess embodiment of femininity and honestly someone I try to emulate in my daily life.

Here’s some qualities about Snow White that make her so inspirational if you’re trying to level up in your femininity too:

1. Snow White is a nurturer

There is such a warmth about Snow White that all creatures are drawn to her. They feel safe with her and she cares so lovingly for them all. As women, we are natural nurturers. It is in our DNA to be mothers either physically or spiritually and to be a mother is to be a nurturer. To embrace a nurturing spirit is to embrace the very way that God designed us as women. You can grow in this quality by being intentional about nurturing all things around you. Start by nurturing yourself and speaking lovingly to yourself. Work on being warm and inviting when others are in the room. Look for opportunities to make others feel welcome or loved in their times of need. Even nurturing your living environment with care and love will help you grow in this characteristic.

2. Snow White works with a cheerful heart

Instead of doing her chores with drudgery, she keeps a cheerful countenance as she washes the steps or cleans the dwarves’ cottage. It’s so easy to be bitter, annoyed, or fall into laziness when it comes to the mundane everyday chores. I have fallen into it often. Snow White avoids this by singing while she works, understanding that she is working to bless others and keeping a smile on her face. If you find the mundane unbearable and it’s causing you to be grumpy while you work, put on some music while you wash dishes. Dance around while you sweep the floors. Remember your why for doing your work. Imagine your loved ones’ faces when they enjoy your hard work. Pray for them as you serve them. And it sounds cheesy but smiling at all times really is a mood changer. It’s even been scientifically proven that smiling even when you don’t feel like that makes you happier. So check yourself for RBF and replace it with a serene and cheerful countenance.

3. Snow White postures herself confidently and moves gracefully

One of the most visible attributes of Snow White’s femininity is the graceful way that she moves. She doesn’t ever hunch (That’s actually a noticeable characteristic of the evil witch). She stands up tall and confidently as though a string was pulling the top of her head towards the sky. She walks in a way that she almost floats from one place to the next without any heavy clunking or stomping. She extends her arms fully through her movements like a ballerina. She has soft hands and uses them expressively. If you want to feel instantly more feminine, study and watch the way that Snow White moves and imitate her.

4. Snow White speaks femininely

Much like the way she moves, the way that Snow White speaks just oozes femininity. She speaks softly yet confidently. Her tone of voice is higher pitched and feminine but not overly child like. She uses inflection to make her speech sound more animated and interesting. She uses a wide range of vocabulary and never speaks profanely or with vulgarity. She practices using words like “please” and “thank you”. She also uses her words to build others up. Even Grumpy can’t help but be charmed by Snow White, because she talks so sweetly and lovingly to each individual no matter if they “deserve” her affection or not. In our modern world, we have a lot to learn from her in adopting softness and charity in our speech.

5. Snow White nurtures her beauty

Snow White finds the perfect balance in nurturing her physical beauty without being vain. She always looks clean and put together no matter if she is with her Prince Charming or cleaning the dwarves’ cottage. She dresses femininely in a way that enhances her body shape (without being immodest) no matter the situation. Her hair and makeup are done in a tasteful way as well. And yet she does it all in a way that her appearance is simply a part of her. It is not her full personality thus saving her from vanity. As feminine women, we too want to present ourselves in the best way possible without becoming vain about our looks. Our appearance shows respect for ourselves and helps us to feel confident in all situations. Whether you are home with your children cleaning the home or out to dinner with a date, challenge yourself to present yourself modestly, polished and femininely.

6. Snow White is an excellent homemaker

Snow White knows how to make even the most desolate house a home. The moment she enters the dwarves’ cottage a warmth follows her. Although the dwarves do not have much, life is breathed into their house when she enters the dwelling. She uses her skills of tidying and cleaning to make the home more inviting even though it is still modest in material things. She knows how to take care of the men to get them cleaned up and makes them feel loved and confident in themselves. She uses her excellent baking and cooking skills to warm the bellies and hearts of the ones she has come to love. As modern women, it is an absolute shame that many of us were not taught these invaluable skills. The simple skills of cleaning, laundry, hygiene, sewing, mending, gardening, cooking and baking greatly improve our lives and the live of those around us. Although many of us did not learn these skills growing up, there are many resources to help you learn (including upcoming blog posts of my own) as well as YouTube, social media and blogs. Many women are realizing how much we have missed out on not being taught these skills and are taking it upon themselves to teach themselves and others and it’s absolutely wonderful.

7. Snow White is vibrant and celebratory

Snow White is full of so much life and warmth. You never see her stewing and brooding about anything. Instead she has a vibrant and celebratory soul. She is not reserved in having a good time with everyone but is also not inappropriate with her celebrations. She knows how to be fun and cheerful with her newfound friends without being drunk, lewd or immodest. This is something that we often have a hard time with in our culture. We sometimes don’t know the line between celebration and debauchery. However, it is deeply unfeminine to be sloppy and out of control in our celebrations at parties. Challenge yourself to attend a party and be in the moment truly enjoying your friends and family without the effects of alcohol. Another thing we struggle with oftentimes is vibrancy and warmth. Challenge yourself to learn the art of conversation by learning how to speak about interesting things. Refrain yourself from gossip and impure speech. Instead learn how to build others up cheerfully. Know how to fill a room without overpowering everyone you meet. Learn to come out of your shell of shyness and become more confident in yourself. Doing these things will help you immensely in building friendships and relationships in a most feminine warm way.

8. Snow White nurtures her relationship with God

I always think that one of the most heart warming parts of the whole movie is when Snow White kneels beside the bed to pray. I think that as we nurture our relationships with Jesus, we can’t help but grow in femininity. God made us as feminine beings, afterall, so growing with Him helps us to see ourselves as nothing but His creation and daughters. Spend some time in the Bible studying the women that He created. Spend some time studying the women saints and try to emulate their behaviors. Take time to worship and praise your Savior and Creator. And never ever neglect time with the Lord in prayer no matter the circumstances or how busy you are.

9. Snow White has goals of love and marriage

While marriage is not the vocation for everyone (the religious life and consecrated single life are certainly honorable and beautiful and highly respectable as well), Snow White has no shame in wanting to be a wife. To her, love is not only an accessory to her life, it is her end goal. She sees a man as perfectly complementary to herself instead of in competition with her. She celebrates the masculine and allows herself to be rescued and swept off her feet by him. She is loving and warm and embraces both of their natural qualities and roles in their relationship. This is something that Disney has completely written out of their more modern “fairytales” but I can’t help but think that many girls are missing out on the beauty of seeing a naturally ordered relationship. Yes, women are strong but so are men and that’s okay too. Sometimes we want to be swept off our feet and have our “happily ever after” and that is beautiful and good as well. If marriage is your dream, Snow White shows us that your dreams matter and are wonderful as well.

The 1937 film Snow White is not some archaic representation of women but a beautiful and invaluable example of well ordered femininity through its main character. We, as modern women, have so much to learn from this character and in doing so will greatly improve our own lives by emulating her feminine qualities. I highly encourage you to revisit this movie and take notes of her characteristics and begin to implement them in your own life. I think you will be surprised by how much your life begins to change for the better!

Many blessings,

Liv
